our story
Newton Commercial was founded by Richard and Vera Newton back in 1979 after they had begun refurbishing lorry seats, police cars and more! From this they grew the company to manufacture many high quality classic car interiors. Jonny Newton joined the company in 2004 and has continued to expand the company into new marques and models and is currently the managing director of the business.
We moved into our main factory on Eastlands Industrial Estate in 1990, using our original building as a moulded carpet department. We then added a third site in 2010 which is now our boards factory. We have always been proud to be a British manufacturer and to use British suppliers to source the materials we need to handcraft our classic car interior trim.
We are known as the world leaders of the classic car trim industry and have received recognition in multiple areas. From being British Motor Heritage approved, to being awarded the Gold Suffolk Carbon Charter for our contribution to reducing energy consumption. We also work closely with the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing to constantly improve manufacturing processes.
