In the early years of production manufacture was shared between two factories. While mechanically the same, the Austin Seven and Morris Mini used their own trim designs and these designs varied throughout these years until trim became more standardised after 1962. This design was used exclusively in early Morris production, and fits the post leg front seat frames (as pictured below). We believe that this trim was only used up until the middle of November 1959, around chassis number 8500 however, as with all early Mini items there was a lot of changes in the these early production years so if you are unsure we would recommend contacting our sales team for further details.
The seat faces are made in our Fleck material as is the rear of the squab cover, which we have had painstakingly remanufactured to get as close to the original material as possible. This design is unusual in that the seat faces have irregular sewn flutes with a pair of lines quite close together with a larger central panel, reminiscent of more vintage cars. A peculiarity of the early frame design is the extra piece of grey fleck material with a Pirelli diaphragm strap sewn inside it. This covers up the rear of the seat base padding where the seat squab back finishes much higher than on the later cars. As with all seat refurbishments we would recommend that you will need new foams/horse hair pads and seat straps to achieve the best possible fit. Please note this kit includes both front seat covers.
