Before 1964 Australian Mini production was based upon UK specifications and followed the standard UK practice. In 1964 unique Australian produced trim began to be fitted as home built content increased. We believe this style was used for all Australian MKI Minis made after June 1969. These seats feature a sewn fluted face with two sets of narrow flutes with a wider plain centre. Colours may also be different as the material was often Australian sourced and we may not be able to match all original colours.
We have come across two different frame shapes of the the Australian MKI Mini seat frame for these seats - one with a rounded seat squab and other with a more angular square seat squab. We have patterns for both styles, however we believe the roundback to be the original Australian production. If you are unsure which your particular model is please get in touch with our sales team who will be able to identify from supplied pictures.
The easiest way to see which style you have is from looking at the back of the squab (the piece you put your back on). For a round back seats the side will taper together at the top whereas the sides of the square back seat are parallel to each other. If you order this item seat covers will be supplied in the roundback style.
This is a new addition to our Australian Mini trim with the help of Mini Sport Australia. Because these seats were made in Australia we have a limited amount of information regarding the use of interior trim. Pictures and any information you have will help our sales team to try and identify which style was originally fitted in your car.
